Artist Megan Leah, produces works of art using various mediums to create layered art. Mediums have included household items such as Fabric Scraps, Coffee Filters, Tissue Paper, Glass, and Chicken wire to name a few. Images are often sculpted using Gesso or Paver Pole to hold mediums in place. Acrylic Paint is then used to saturate and enhance textures creating captivating images. Megan's methods of sculpting and painting are hands on. Texture of fabric, coffee filter and paper can inspire the foundation of sculpting trees or rocks on canvas to anchor and enhance depth that entices the viewer to want to step on in to explore more. Not every artwork is sculpted with additional mediums, although sculpture and paint are Megan's preferred methods. Megan's exploration of other mediums continues to grow and may be seen in harmony with current works of Art.
Megan is a Wife and Mother of 2 teen children and currently resides in Barrhead Alberta. Megan was born and raised in rural Northern Alberta on various farms. Rural farm life allowed the room to explore, study, encounter, and appreciate the landscape, animals and plant life. Landscapes are often Megan's choice of subject and occasionally focus in on a specific specimen or element found during explorations in nature. Often those who have viewed Megan's paintings in person have expressed a sense of calm and relaxation. |
